So shall I relive Spring Testing? Certainly.Wednesday: Holy crap, Meredith drove to Baton Rouge. I mean, Mom was in the passenger seat, but I drove. AHHH! It sucked...but the time definitely goes faster when you drive. Well, I arrive and kind of glance around for nobody in particular. I receive my schedule and go to Howe-Russell building for my French exam. Oh Lord, I have not taken French since Freshman year. What the crap am I thinking? Well, I sit next to Camille Musso(the only other person from Barbe) and we have these scantron things...they tell us that the oral exam is first. I reminisce back to 8th grade and that credit exam, thinking, "oh, this will be easy!" oh yeah right. Easy is definitely not the word to describe that oral test. Well...I guess on probably...60% of that part. Next is the grammar part. Oh man, it's bad when I haven't seen some of the choices in my life. I choose what I know. Next is the "Read this paragraph and answer questions" part. AHAHA! One paragraph was about how horrible life is because you wake up and eat breakfast that is filled with sugar and fat and stuff that is bad. You go outside and you are poisoned with pollution. Everything in life is horrible, so you should drink beer, gin and tonic, and whiskey instead of dealing with everything in your horrible life. Wednesday night...what did we do...man, I can't remember! maybe dinner somewhere? I don't remember.
Thursday: Okay...first test is Chemistry from 8:15-10:15. I go in...completely dreading it...but still hoping for a miracle. Matt Kemp walked in with me and we kind of talked since we hadn't seen each other before then...and found out that we were taking today's tests together[except he was taking Calculus, also]. Well, the Chem test is passed out and I'm looking at the periodic table and turn over the sheet. I swear...I did not understand a thing on the back of the sheet. The guy at the test said, "We told you to bring your calculators for the test, but put them up. We want to find out what you know, not what your calculator knows." Uh. Yeah...thanks. piece of crap. So everyone sort of glanced around, wide-eyed, and put up the calculators. Okay, well, I eventually started using letters that I hadn't used in awhile on my chem test.(like.."oh, I haven't used E in awhile...*fills in E*" It was that bad. I walked outside and sat with Matt Kemp. Adam joined us soon after, next came Kevin, then Garrett. We sat and talked for about half an hour, then went into the bookstore and drifted around there. They all left for the Calc test and I sat in the Student Union. I eventually grew extremely bored and figured that I would go find the Field House since that was where my next test was. I walked and found where I was going[didn't walk far enough to the field house because I didn't feel like crossing the street]. I then just sort of walked around campus and picked up some newspapers. I walked back to the Union and sat inside, reading my newspapers. I proceeded to get up and walk outside to sit on a bench to read my newspapers. Ate McDonald's(in the Union) for lunch with Kevin, Garrett, and Matt. We all walked to the Field House and they said, "If you have scored a 25 or above on your Math ACT, you don't have to take the Algebra section. You do have to take the Trig section, though." 20 questions. hahaha. It was a joke. We went to the Dairy Store(the Ag students milk LSU cows and make ice cream and cheese...don't mix them, though...and sell them in the Dairy Store) for ice cream. Mmm...so good. Matt and I walked back to the Field House to take Computer Science while Garrett and Kevin walked back to the Union. 100 questions...70 to pass. I didn't know sooo many...and Matt went in Computer Science to Rally. Loser. (just kidding...thank you so much for happening to mention...what was his name...Babbich? before the test.) Well, we finished and we walked back to the Union...walking around and searching for Kevin and Garrett. Adam told us they went to the Tips for Scheduling session...which we found out that they actually went to the Honors College Tip Session. Oy! Oh well, we all found each other and went to get the box-lunches they made us. Po-boys, chips, apple, cookies...it was okay. We went to the Tips for Scheduling session...which was kind of pointless, then we went inside and the LSU Ambassadors(student...like...helpers, sort of? they are students who ran the spring orientation thing where we were.) entertained us by singing the LSU fight song and performing weird skits(vaguely reminiscent of Student Council skits at Barbe). We then went out to Tiger Fair...where plenty of students made fools of themselves. Kevin and I watched from the steps of the middle of the parade grounds. At 9:00, there was a "Drive-in Movie" where they set up a big screen and showed The Incredibles on the Parade Grounds(everyone brought blankets and we all sat and watched)...and they gave us popcorn and coke and stuff. It was fun...except for the fact that I was FREEZING the entire time.
Friday: Oh Lord, Physics test began at 7:15 at the Field House? Because it did. It was actually pretty easy thanks to Meredith's last-minute cramming of basic equations that I figured would be needed. Well, after Physics, I walked back to the Union to go to the Honors Tip Session for 8:15...then went back to the field house at 9:15 for Welcome to LSU or Meet LSU or some other introductory session where they talk about how you should probably take around 15 hours your first semester. We then split off into groups and talked. Next we went to eat lunch at the Pentagon...yum..it was really good. We then went to "Behind the Clock Tower" (our meeting place for my group...number 46) at noon. They gave us our test scores and the courses we tested out of. I got 23 credit hours. Word. Chem? oh man, tested out.physics, tested out. french? tested out of TWO classes! Yay! Remember how I needed 70/100 to pass? I got 67. Ugh. Oh well, it wasn't that important. We went to some Auditorium to listen to a guy tell us everything that we already knew(my group and I think 3 other groups)...everyone else was in a group with their major. Well, my mom and I figured out a schedule. I hope hope hope I get into Honors Western Civilization. I signed up for that(6 hours), Physics(3 hours), Honors Chemistry(3 hours), Speech(shoot me in the face, but I need it for my potential agriculture, biology, basic sciences, premed, or prevet major since I might actually have to talk to people...3 hours), and Tiger Band(IT'S LIKE TEN BILLION HOURS A WEEK AND WE GET 1 CREDIT HOUR! GAH!)
I was going to take Biology instead of Speech, but that would have been 3 sciences and I couldn't have taken the honors biology I wanted(the honors one I want is offered in the spring.) What? No Englishes or Maths, you say? Screw that crap. If I want to go to pre-med, I have to take Calculus(...kill me), but I'm going to wait to see if I want to go pre-med before I kill my GPA. Englishes are done thanks to ACT...Merci, ACT.
So Mom and I went to the Dairy Shop and I got a shake. Yum.
I was whining so much because I was so tired. I'm a wuss.
I drove home. It was bad near the end..I started zoning out.
Pros of trip: 23 credit hours, I learned to use Cruise Control, I actually kind of know some of LSU's campus now, I met a few people not from Barbe, schedule is planned for fall semester, walking everywhere! I needed that exercise...
Cons of trip: some guy almost hit my car on the interstate coming back, so I leaned on my horn and he was a jerk, speeding on the interstate and still having people pass me, stress from always having to go somewhere, walking everywhere!(yes, it was a pro...but it begins to suck after awhile), campus size is really intimidating me.
Je veux dormir maintenant. Au revoir.
